Achievements and Activities

As first-year CSE students, we visited various shops across Udupi to identify the problems people face with the software they use or the types of software they would like us to create. All visits were conducted with our college’s permission, and most shop owners were cooperative. We explored areas such as transport and booking services, chartered accountants, billing systems for shops and restaurants, and handicraft businesses.
The transport and booking service suggested developing an app with live updates and seamless integration to check available transports and make real-time bookings.
A handicraft shop requested a marketing platform to increase awareness of their products. Existing platforms charge ₹35k–50k per year, which is unaffordable, and their products’ value goes unnoticed. They emphasized that current platforms are expensive and ineffective for small businesses.
The billing software used by a shoe shop had no major issues, but the owner wanted more customization options, noting that current apps charge a premium for each customization.
The chartered accountant shared that government portals often crash due to heavy traffic, forcing them to rely on private portals, which have their own challenges.
From these visits, we gained valuable insights into software needs across multiple sectors and are motivated to discover more problems in upcoming visits.
